TREKKING IN NEPAL
Revered as the abode of the Gods the mighty Himalaya scale the heavens and are a must-visit destination for all lovers of wilderness and adventure. Nepal is home to the highest mountains in the range and offers awe-inspiring opportunities for walkers of all abilities. Explore have been running treks here for 55 years and our established and professional team of Sherpas and porters will ensure that your trek will be safe and enjoyable.
Travel to Nepal with Explore and you’ll enjoy the trek of a lifetime – from day walks and introductory treks to full-blown challenging routes we offer something for everyone. We’ve an exceptional range of accommodation choices on trek with the choice of either camping or staying in teahouse on the most popular routes. Commonly Everest and the Annapurna, are the two major regions for trekking.
OPTION ONE: ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP (4,100M)

The vast amphitheatre of the Annapurna Sanctuary is encircled by the famous Himalayan peaks – the 'fishtail' spire of Machapuchare (6997m), Gangapurna (7454m), Annapurna 1 (8091m), the unclimbed Fang (7647m) and Annapurna South (7273m). The only approach follows the Modi Khola Valley through forests of oak, rhododendron and bamboo, passing through local Gurung villages to a world of soaring peaks.
The flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara takes us past three 8000m giants . We start our Annapurna Base Camp Trek with a short drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. We walk to a village by the Modi River, Birethanti(1000m). Walking through oak forest we cross several side valleys, which run into the Modi Khola, and climb a stone 'staircase' to the Gurung village of Chomrong (2060m). Trekking past Hinku cave, we reach what is known as the 'gate' into the Sanctuary – a pass between the spectacular peaks of Hiunchuli and Machapuchare.
The glaciated and snow covered peaks of the Sanctuary form a spectacular barrier .Dazzling views confront us as we trek up through the last permanent settlements to the Machapuchare Base Camp (3729m) where we are rewarded with superb views of 'Fishtail' mountain. While here we will also visit the Annapurna South Base camp.

OPTION TWO: GOKYO LAKE TREK

Gokyo Lake trek gives an alternative to the traditional Everest base camp trek. This trek also starts from Lukla after 45 minutes mountain flight from Kathmandu following up the Dudh Koshi River towards Namche, the gateway of Khumbu region. After Namche we branch off from the main busy trail towards the sleepy village of Phortse Tenga and finally reach to our ultimate destination Gokyo passing Dole and Machhermo. Climbing Gokyo Ri (5357m) close to Gokyo Lake offers spectacular views of Mt. Everest and other three 8000 meter peaks (Mt. Cho Oyu, Lhotse and Makalu). From here you can also see the largest glacier in Nepal named Ngozumpa. Besides them the view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m) is one of the most dramatic panoramas of this trek. From Gokyo there are many options for high altitude walking including crossing of Cho La pass and Rengo La pass however we will not cross those passes. Rather we return back to Lukla via the same trek. This trek is indeed a less crowded than the Everest Base Camp trek.

OPTION THREE: LANGTANG TREK(14 DAYS)

.This is lesser spoiled national parks of Nepal. Situated North of Kathmandu valley near the Tibetan border, it is the most easily accessible highland sanctuary from the capital. Langtang covers 1,710 sq. km. forming the upper catchments areas of two of Nepal's largest river systems - the Trishuli and Koshi. There is great latitudinal variation, starting at 1,500 m. and ascending to the top of Mt. Langtang Lirung at 7,234 m. As a result the park has immense ecological diversity. Some of the most attractive areas of the park include the Langtang Valley, the holy lakes at Gosainkund, and the forested hillsides above the village.

The deep gorges of Bhote Koshi and Langtang Khola are thickly forested with rhododendron, oak, maple and alder trees. The stretch of forest around Ghode Tabela in the lower Langtang Valley and below the Gosainkund Lakes is inhabited by the RED PANDA a rare and threatened symbol of a healthy Himalayan ecosystem. Other animals, common to these forests are yellow throated martens, wild boar, Himalayan black bear, Ghorel (Mountain Goat), grey langur monkey and leopard. The rare Himalayan honey guide has been sighted here and the park is also the home for impeyan (National Bird), Tragopan and kalij pheasants among others. Larch, a rare deciduous conifer, is also found in the forest of lower Langtang Valley. Further up in the higher valleys, Himalayan tahr, musk deer and snow
leopardleopard can be found..

ROCK CLIMBING

Rock climbing is an activity in which you will climb up or across natural rock formations or man-made rock walls with the goal of reaching the summit of a formation or the endpoint of a pre-defined route.
Rock climbing is generally differentiated by its need for the use of the climber's hands to hold his or her own weight and not just provide balance. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber's strength, endurance, agility, and balance along with his or her mental control.
It can be a dangerous sport and knowledge of proper climbing techniques and usage of specialized climbing equipment is crucial for the safe completion of routes.
Nepal offers some really terrific places for people who like crawling up vertical cliffs with the help of their fingernails. If you don't have time to take on some Himalayan Peak during this visit, the valley perimeter offers a number of stone walls guaranteed to keep you on your toes. So, instead of hanging around gathering moss, why not try your hand at rock climbing and get a grip on things?
